Metag To learn about a physical system of interest, experimental results must be able to discriminate among models. We introduce a geometrical measure to quantify the distance between models for pseudoscalarmeson photoproduction in amplitude space. Experimental observables, with finite precision, map to probability distributions in amplitude space, and the characteristic width scale of such distributions needs to be smaller than the distance between models if the observable data are going to be useful. We therefore also introduce a method for evaluating probability distributions in amplitude space that arise as a result of one or more measurements, and show how one can use this to determine what further measurements are going to be necessary to be able to discriminate among models. © 2016 The Author(s). Ambiguities in the partial-wave analysis of pseudoscalar-meson photoproduction.
Ambiguities in the partial-wave analysis of pseudoscalar-meson photoproduction Abstract Ambiguities in pseudoscalar-meson photoproduction, arising from incomplete experimental data, have analogs in pion-nucleon scattering. Amplitude ambiguities have important implications for the problems of amplitude extraction and resonance identification in partial-wave analysis. The effect of these ambiguit...

We consider the problem of determining amplitudes from observables for the case of pseudoscalar meson photoproduction. We find a number of surprisingly simple constraints which give necessary conditions for a complete set of measurements. These results contradict one of the selection rules derived previously. متن کاملNegative Parity N ∗ Resonances in an Extended GBE
In this paper, we calculate the masses and mixing angles of L = 1 negative parity N ∗ resonances in an extended GBE (Goldstone-boson-exchange model) with harmonicoscillator wave functions. By using those mixing angles, we get their photoproduction amplitudes, and compare them with experimental data and the results of OPE (onepion-exchange model), OPsE (only pseudoscalar meson exchange model), a...
متن کاملPolarization in Hyperon Photo- and Electro- Production
Multiple polarization observables must be measured to access the amplitude structure of pseudoscalar meson photoproduction off the proton. The hyperon-producing reactions are especially attractive to study, since the weak decays allow straightforward measurement of the induced and recoil polarization observables. In this paper we emphasize γ + p → K +Λ, discussing recent measurements of Cx, Cz,...
متن کاملSignatures of the handbag mechanism in wide-angle photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons
Wide-angle photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons is investigated under the assumption of dominance of the handbag mechanism considering both quark helicity flip and non-flip. The partonic subprocess, meson photoproduction off quarks, is analysed with the help of a covariant decomposition of the subprocess amplitudes which is independent of a specific meson generation mechanism. As examples of ...

The gluonic pole has been instrumental in explaining the mass of the η ′ and providing a plausible explanation for solving the spin crisis. We show that it also plays an important role in the description of the photoproduction of vector mesons at high momentum transfers at JLab energies. Recently the CLAS Collaboration at JLab has published new data on ρ-and φ-meson photoproduction at large mom...
